7 EASY WAYS TO SLEEP BETTER + LONGER TONIGHT

how to sleep

Did you have a good sleep last night? Or were you awake untill 3AM in the morning? Sleep is more important than we know and it’s the best fuel to start the day. Now that I’m working out at least 5 times a week with Personal Body Plan I noticed even more how important it is to have a good rest during the night. To be honest with you guys, actually this post is also a reminder for myself because the last few days I didn’t took the rest I needed. This was noticable in so many things and it’s about time for a change.

Read a book
Reading a book is for me the best remedy when I have problems getting into sleep. Reading makes my mind a bit weak and relaxed which makes it so mich easier to get some sleep.

Try to go to sleep at the same time
When you want to have the ultimate rest you need to get the same right amount of sleep everyday. Of course, with our busy lives this isn’t always possible but it’s really something to keep in mind!

Avoid bright screen 1- to 2 hours before you sleep
This is one of the hardest things to do but it’s true that avoiding screens a few hours before you sleep is so effective. Phones, iPads, laptops and tv’s have caused that our eyes are been showcased to so much bright lights that it has influence on your sleep. Just before I sleep I like to check some social media but actually this something really bad. I’m curious if I can change this habit.

Be relaxed
We often take our daily troubles with us when we go to sleep. But going to bed has to be something and the place to be where you must be super relaxed. So it’s really important to make your bedroom as relaxed as possible where you only sleep (or something else haha). So no tv, eating or work in your bedroom!

Take an evening shower
Oh, this is my ultimate favorite! An evening shower makes me super relaxed and the perfect ending of a hectic day. Warm water makes me really sleepy and I only need a few minutes to get into sleep.

Avoid naps during the day
During the weekends I often got the habit of going for naps during the day. Of course, my body asked for it but on the other side this also has effect on my sleep during the night. So when you go for a nap, always put on a alarm and only limit them for a maximum of 20-30 minutes. Short naps can be really effective and can give you the right amount of energy during the day.

Write things or thoughts downs
Thoughts can have influence on your sleep and worrying about some daily struggles makes it possible to let you stay awake during the night. Of course, this is something you don’t want and writing down your thoughts and struggles can be really something that will work for you. Getting things of your chest makes your mind clean and just leave them for the next morning.
